▶ Feedback Send your feedback to: [email protected]. Amour2rever, Student’s Must Have I am currently getting my master’s degree and it has not been an easy ride up to this point. I have A.D.D.
And struggle every day to keep focus when reading my textbooks. Over the past couple of years I have switched from physical textbooks to ebooks (i.e., Kindle, Thuze, Chegg, etc.). Being able to copy and paste my textbook into a reading app has been my goal for some time and it can be VERY frustrating when my iPad or iPhone doesn’t want it to happen (I have an app on my iPhone/iPad called Speaky and it doesn’t want to import the text sometimes). This allows me to just copy and paste a few pages and let it read to me and I go through my chapters (while retaining the knowledge) in a flash. If you are a student with trouble focusing, I highly suggest this.
Also, if you have physical books, it WILL be a pain to try to get the text into a form that you can have something read it to you (albeit, it IS possible with OCR apps and the like; just not easy). If you want to go down this path, I suggest to start the switch to ebooks. Another path you might want to go down is quick reading apps (e.g., Flash Reader). They’re not for eveyone but good for right before exams when you want to cram your notes into your brain in five minutes haha GREAT APP, I don’t leave reviews unless it’s terrible or absolutely amazing and this app exceeds my expectations.
I am pretty sure I will buy the PRO version. Amour2rever, Student’s Must Have I am currently getting my master’s degree and it has not been an easy ride up to this point. I have A.D.D. Stuartml, It’s good, just one wish I enjoying having articles or other news items read to me, I followed instructions and downloaded some extra voices, my only wish is that I could adjust the pause after periods/full-stops to aid in comprehension. Maybe its just me, but I feel that every voice skips over the periods and runs onto the next sentence too quickly- this could be very troubling if the context changes and could make it difficult to fully grasp a topic, if there was a way to adjust the silence/pause/break after it finds a period- that would be excellent and could help with reducing the “robot-ness” take it a step further and have a slight variability in the pauses, and that should help even further.
I don’t understand why this wasn’t taken into consideration while these system-wide voices were put into place. Update: I just found out I can search and replace “.” with “. slnc 1000” to make it pause longer on full-stop/periods!
It sounds quite good for well-written articles! Raven3-3g, A must for research I’m working on a research paper where I need many sources from academic articles and this app is saving me a lot of time. I’m better able to take notes on my readings and I can have the app narrate to me a lot faster than I’m able to read silently. I like how the digital voice even makes the sound of a person inhaling periodically as it goes. That may sound like an odd detail but it’s actually really pleasant. The only thing that could improve the app is being able to have it start reading from any point and not just the beginning. Also, if you edit the text after it has begun reading it starts over from the beginning.
Maybe one can already do these things and I just haven’t figured out how, I don’t know. This is still an amazing app. Very much worthwhile to have.
